BRP Lolinato To-ong finds illegal drugs, suspected Chinese rocket debris

The Philippine Navy patrol gunboat, BRP Lolinato To-ong, discovered illegal drugs and suspected Chinese rocket debris during operations in the West Philippine Sea and off the coast of Palawan.

The discovery of a floating black bag, believed to contain high-grade marijuana, was made near Sabina Shoal after the MCAAU-W received a tip on October 17.

The gunboat was dispatched on October 18 to recover the bag, which was handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Palawan on October 20.

On their way back to Palawan, the ship also sighted and retrieved metallic debris believed to be from a Chinese rocket, bearing what looked like the Chinese national flag.

This debris recovery occurred off the coast of Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan.

The Philippine Space Agency had previously confirmed the launch of China's Long March 8A rocket, with debris expected in areas near Palawan.
