BRP Gabriela Silang ferries 300 LSIs, SAF members

The BRP Gabriela Silang departed Pier 15 in Manila with nearly 300 individuals, including locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and police officers from the Special Action Force.

The ship is transporting approximately 150 LSIs, 30 indigenous people, and 107 SAF members to various destinations.

LSIs are headed to Zamboanga, General Santos City, Davao City, and Cagayan De Oro, while SAF members are being taken to Cebu City.

Medical supplies from the Department of Health are also aboard the vessel for Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro.

Prior to departure, LSIs underwent health checks and received hygiene kits, while SAF members were given rapid antibody tests.

The Philippine Coast Guard will provide food, accommodation, and regular health check-ups for the LSIs during the two to three-day voyage.

This trip follows a similar mission on June 15, where the BRP Gabriela Silang transported about 150 stranded individuals to Davao City and General Santos City.
