Bong Go advises Duque to make supreme sacrifice

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go advised Health Secretary Francisco Duque III to make the "supreme sacrifice" when the right time comes, amidst the Senate hearing on the Department of Health's (DOH) deficiencies in handling COVID-19 response funds.

Go's statement urged Duque to clear his name and address the findings of the Commission on Audit (COA) regarding the P67 billion in funds.

The senator emphasized that the decision to resign is ultimately Duque's, but the sacrifice would be for the benefit of the Filipino people.

Go also expressed sympathy for President Duterte, who he said is carrying the burden of the world's problems.

Senator Panfilo Lacson questioned Go if his advice was a direct call for Duque's resignation.

Go clarified that his statement was merely advice, stressing the importance for health officials to clear their names while working hard during the pandemic.
