Customs eyes 'competitive, transparent' bidding of Discaya luxury cars by Nov. 15
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is targeting to auction 13 luxury vehicles owned by contractors Pacifico and Sarah Discaya by November 15.
BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno stated that the government could earn a minimum of P200 to P220 million from the bidding.
Of the 30 luxury vehicles linked to the Discayas, 13 were issued a warrant of seizure and detention for lacking an import entry and certificate of payment.
The remaining 17 vehicles are undergoing post-clearance audit despite having proper documentation.
The BOC has also submitted a report to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommending charges against over 10 BOC personnel as part of an agency revamp.
Separately, the BIR has filed P7.1 billion in tax complaints against the Discayas, alleging they never divested from their firms.
