35 PDLs graduate from ALS program at BJMP-Bansud Jail

The BJMP-Bansud District Jail held its eighth Alternative Learning System (ALS) graduation ceremony on July 9 for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who completed elementary and junior high education.

The event, themed "Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa: Kaagapay ng Bagong Pilipinas," highlights the BJMP's dedication to using education as a tool for rehabilitation and reintegration.

A total of 35 PDL learners graduated, with six completing elementary and 29 finishing junior high school for the 2024-2025 school year.

Acting District Jail Warden Senior Inspector Nelmar Malilmata commended the graduates for their perseverance and thanked partner agencies, teachers, and stakeholders for their support.

Certificates were awarded by District ALS Focal Person Francisco Alinio and formally recognized by Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Genalin Alinio.

Keynote speaker Donalyn de Guzman Jamilla encouraged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning, while Education Program Supervisor I for ALS Odesca Salazar recognized the jail personnel for their commitment to implementing programs that help PDLs change their lives.

Earlier in the year, proceeds from the October 2024 Color Fun Run funded a new classroom, which by February 2025 had enrolled 23 elementary and 29 junior high learners.
