BJMP-6 jail officer tests positive for COVID-19

A 31-year-old male jail officer assigned at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Western Visayas (BJMP-6) has tested positive for COVID-19.

He has been isolated in a facility quarantine in his hometown in Zarraga, Iloilo.

This officer was tasked with delivering personal protective equipment (PPE) and vitamins to jail facilities across Panay Island.

Despite his role, BJMP-6 assured that the officer did not come into contact with persons deprived of liberty (PDL) due to a strict lockdown of jail facilities since March 20.

Ninety-one (91) regional office staff have been advised to observe quarantine.

The officer's last delivery was on April 25 in Culasi, Antique.
