BI arrests SK fugitive wanted for P6.7M fraud

A South Korean fugitive, Lee Seul Ki, wanted for telecommunications fraud, has been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration in his condominium unit in the Clark Freeport Zone, Angeles City, Pampanga.

He is accused of being part of a voice phishing syndicate that defrauded victims of over 178 million Korean won (nearly US$130,000) by impersonating police officers and financial advisors.

Lee arrived in the Philippines in May 2016 and his passport has since been canceled, making him an undocumented alien.

He is currently detained at the BI warden facility in Taguig City, awaiting a deportation order from the board of commissioners.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco stated that Lee will be deported and blacklisted to prevent his return to the Philippines.
