Four Japanese telecom fraud fugitives arrested in NCR

Four Japanese fugitives wanted for telecom fraud were apprehended by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Bureau of Immigration in separate operations in Pasay and Parañaque on July 16.

The arrested individuals are Ueda Koji, 27, Kiyohara Jun, 29, Suzuki Seiji, 29, and Sawada Masaya, 39.

According to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), they have outstanding warrants of arrest since May 2024 issued by the Omiya Summary Court for Fraud in violation of the Japanese Penal Code.

The four Japanese nationals are considered founding members of a telecom fraud syndicate based in Cambodia, facing charges related to Unlawful Capture, Confinement, Extortion, and Fraud.

Masaya was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) upon arrival from Cebu, while the other three were apprehended in BF Homes, Parañaque.

The fugitives are currently detained at the BI's facility in Taguig City pending their deportation to Japan to face trial.
