BARMM distributes relief goods to jail inmates

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) provided relief goods to over 250 inmates at two detention facilities in Cotabato City: the Cotabato City Jail and Maguindanao Provincial Jail.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, BARMM's interior minister and head of READI-BARMM, led the distribution of rice, coffee, corned beef, sardines, fresh vegetables, fruits, face masks, paracetamol, and bath soaps.

Sinarimbo emphasized that prisoners deserve assistance during the crisis, and the BARMM committed to continue supporting these jails.

The BARMM Ministry of Health reported seven COVID-19 cases in the region, all from Lanao del Sur, with three fatalities, two recoveries, and two active cases.

The relief mission followed an earlier call by the BARMM Ministry of Health to craft specific guidelines for the welfare of jail inmates during the COVID-19 campaign.
