Aurora on red alert for Severe Tropical Storm Nika landfall

Aurora province has raised its alert status to red in preparation for Severe Tropical Storm Nika, which is forecasted to make landfall on Monday.

Governor Reynante Tolentino stated that all agency personnel are required to be on duty, and the emergency operation assistance has been activated.

Work in all government offices and classes in all educational levels, both public and private, will be suspended on Monday.

The provincial government has directed disaster management officials to prioritize the safety of residents in low-lying, landslide-prone, and riverside areas, particularly in the northern towns of Dinalungan, Casiguran, and Dilasag.

Local authorities have requested the assistance of the police, Philippine Army, and Philippine Coast Guard for potential emergency response needs.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office is currently repacking food packs for distribution.
