DOJ, PAOCC ask Mayor Guo to attend probe

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) have challenged suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo to appear before a panel of prosecutors for the preliminary investigation into a qualified trafficking complaint filed against her.

Guo, who has been evading a Senate arrest warrant, had previously stated her intention to face the "proper forum."

PAOCC spokesperson Dr. Winston Casio expressed disappointment over Guo's continued absence, suggesting she might still be in hiding.

Despite Guo's no-show, the DOJ and PAOCC granted her and her co-respondents another chance to present their counter-affidavits on August 6, following the filing of a supplemental complaint.

The supplemental complaint includes testimony from four new Filipino witnesses who will reportedly present evidence of scamming activities by Zun Yuan Technology and Baofu Land Development.

These new witnesses will also testify that they were confined and restricted in their movements within the premises, with limited freedom and deductions from their salaries.

An additional respondent, a Filipino national allegedly involved in the management of Zun Yuan Technology, Hongsheng, and Baofu Land Development, has been named, pending the panel's approval.
