Alas Pilipinas U18 opens Princess Cup with two wins

Alas Pilipinas girls dominated Singapore with a commanding 25-14, 25-6, 25-12 victory to open their campaign in the 22nd Princess Cup Southeast Asian Under-18 Women's Volleyball Championship.

The Philippine U-18 team then overcame Malaysia with a 25-20, 27-29, 25-22, 25-18 win to stay unbeaten in the tournament.

Kimberly Rubin and Lianne Penuliar stepped up significantly in the match against Malaysia, particularly in crucial moments.

Alas Pilipinas improved to a 2-0 standing in the six-team competition, where the top two squads of the single round-robin will clash in a winner-take-all final on June 13.

The team had to hold off a late Malaysia rally in the first set, with Denesse Daylisan and Avril Bron stepping up in the clutch.

Malaysia responded in the second set, but Alas Pilipinas could not complete the comeback, losing the set.

Lianne Penuliar, Jaila Adrao, Akeyla Bartolabac, and Harlyn Serneche spearheaded a decisive fourth-set run against Malaysia, transforming a narrow lead into a commanding victory.
