Alas Pilipinas coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito to stay until 2025 SEA Games

Jorge Edson Souza de Brito will continue to coach the Alas Pilipinas women's volleyball team until the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, from December 7 to 19.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) announced the contract extension on Friday, June 7, shortly after the team's historic bronze medal finish in the AVC Challenge Cup.

PNVF President Ramon "Tats" Suzara stated that the decision to retain de Brito was made after careful consideration and consultation with the PNVF board.

De Brito's contract was originally set to expire this month, but his successful tenure with Alas Pilipinas, including their recent performance, was a key factor in the PNVF's request for him to remain.

The contract signing is expected to happen soon, either in Korea or upon the team's return to the Philippines.

Public opinion regarding de Brito had been mixed to negative prior to the AVC Challenge Cup, partly due to previous results with the women's national team since 2021 and the Akari Chargers from 2022 to 2023.
