Airlines cancel Taiwan flights amid coronavirus travel ban

Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, and AirAsia Philippines have canceled flights to and from Taiwan until further notice.

This is in compliance with the Philippine government's expanded travel ban aimed at preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The Department of Health and the Bureau of Immigration announced that Taiwan is now included in the ban, which was initially imposed on China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

The travel ban prohibits the entry of foreign nationals coming directly from or who have been to these areas within 14 days prior to arrival.

Filipino citizens and those with Philippine Permanent Resident Visas will be allowed entry but will undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Filipinos traveling to and from these affected areas are also temporarily banned.
