AirAsia Philippines appoints Captain Suresh Bangah as new president

AirAsia Philippines has appointed Captain Suresh Bangah as its new president and general manager, succeeding Ricky Isla.

Bangah brings nearly three decades of aviation experience, having held positions like group director of flight operations at AirAsia Aviation Group and chief pilot at AirAsia X Berhad.

AirAsia Aviation Group CEO Bo Lingam stated that the Philippines is a key pillar in their regional strategy, emphasizing potential in inter-island connectivity and expansion into ASEAN and North Asia.

Ricky Isla, who retired after six years, will remain as chief advisor to Bangah during the transition.

This appointment follows Capital A Berhad's regularization plan to exit PN17 status, with the company set to focus on non-aviation businesses while retaining an 18% stake in aviation operations.
