WPS troops safe amid monsoon, supplies ample

AFP troops in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) are safe and secure despite rough seas and strong winds caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Philippine Navy spokesperson for the WPS Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad confirmed that communications show the troops are fine, including those stationed on the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal.

The soldiers have sufficient supplies until the next rotational and re-provisioning (RORE) mission, which are designed to last beyond the scheduled date.

The military consistently ensures an ample supply of provisions for troops deployed in the WPS, covering all nine Philippine-held features.

The inclement weather has limited monitoring of Chinese vessels in the area, with reports still pending.
