84% of LGUs complete SAP 1st tranche distribution

As of May 23, 1,379 out of 1,634 LGUs nationwide, representing 84 percent, have completed the distribution of the first tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) emergency subsidy.

More than P98.6 billion in subsidies have been disbursed to over 17.5 million beneficiaries, which is 97.4 percent of the 18 million targeted low-income families.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is conducting eligibility checks and national-level deduplication by matching beneficiaries with databases from other government agencies to prevent duplication.

The DSWD aims to begin the second phase of SAP implementation once all LGUs have completed their distribution and submitted their liquidation reports.

Priority for the second wave of cash aid will be given to eligible beneficiaries not included in the initial master list and those in areas still under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
