8 PRO-BAR cops face raps for fake RT-PCR results

Eight policemen from the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) in Isabela and Lamitan, Basilan, are facing administrative and criminal charges for presenting fake RT-PCR test results upon entering Zamboanga City on July 5.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Eleazar, directed the filing of charges against the police officers, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for such acts.

The implicated officers were on board MV Cassey Beatrise and MV Cyrstal Jane when intercepted by Zamboanga port officials.

Following their interception, the police officers were fined, quarantined, and underwent swab testing before being sent back to their respective ports of origin.

Authorities also conducted an entrapment operation which led to the arrest of Amilhamja Akbar Ansar, 59, for allegedly facilitating and selling fake RT-PCR test results.
