The Philippine National Police (PNP) has validated a total of 74 election-related incidents nationwide since the election period began on January 12 for the May 2025 midterm elections.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) reported the highest number of incidents with 23 cases, followed by the Cordillera Administrative Region with 17.
The majority of these incidents involved shootings, with other cases including explosions, mauling, alleged kidnapping with homicide, and harassment.
The PNP also reported 43 cases of vote buying, 63 liquor ban violations, and two money ban violations.
A total of 3,145 arrests were made in relation to the gun ban, with 3,229 firearms confiscated.
Despite these incidents, PNP Public Information Office chief Col. Randulf Tuaño stated that the national and local polls remained generally successful and achieved their goal of allowing people to vote.
