PNP: Election-related incidents rise to 87

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that suspected election-related incidents (ERIs) nationwide rose to 87.

A total of 49 validated ERIs have been recorded since the election period began on January 12, with 20 fatalities.

Most validated ERIs were shooting incidents, totaling 24 cases, with other incidents including threats, strafing, and explosions.

Of the 49 validated cases, 24 are still under investigation, 19 were filed before the prosecutor's office, and three reached the arraignment of suspects.

Despite reports of violence and delays in some areas, the PNP maintained that the May 2025 midterm elections were generally peaceful.

The PNP will review security strategies from the recent midterm elections in preparation for future polls in BARMM and for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
