7 PH provinces log very high COVID-19 positivity rates

As of October 15, seven provinces in the Philippines still recorded "very high" COVID-19 positivity rates of over 20%, according to OCTA Research.

These provinces include Camarines Sur at 46.2%, Tarlac at 41.6%, South Cotabato at 26.9%, Cavite at 22.8%, Rizal at 22.1%, Zambales at 22.0%, and Laguna at 21.0%.

While these rates remain high, Tarlac and Zambales showed notable decreases from their previous figures.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila continued its downward trend, decreasing from 17.9% on October 8 to 15% on October 15.

Positivity rate is defined as the percentage of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 out of the total number of people tested.

The World Health Organization recommends a positivity rate of 5% or less to indicate that the spread of the virus is under control.
