Nearly 700 Filipino seafarers repatriated from Germany —DFA
A total of 690 Filipino seafarers, who were repatriated from Frankfurt, Germany, arrived in the Philippines on Saturday.
These seafarers were from the cruise ships AIDAaura, AIDAcara, AIDAmar, AIDAnova, AIDAmira, and AIDAstela.
The repatriation was facilitated by the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt, the Philippine Embassy in Berlin, and POLO-Berlin, along with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation and AIDA Cruises.
Separately, 264 Filipino seafarers from Carnival ships arrived in Manila on May 4, 2020, marking the last group accommodated due to limited quarantine facilities.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has repatriated over 19,000 Filipino crew members due to the pandemic.
As of the latest data, 1,819 Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19, with 214 deaths and 475 recoveries.
