6 PAF personnel die in Super Huey crash during HADR ops

Six Philippine Air Force (PAF) personnel, identified as pilots Captain Paulie Dumagan and Second Lieutenant Royce Louis Camigla, and crewmembers Sergeant Yves Sijub, Sergeant John Christopher Golfo, Airman First Class Ericson Merico, and Airman Ameer Khaidar Apion, died when their Super Huey helicopter crashed in Agusan del Sur.

The PAF personnel were conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino when the accident occurred in Barangay Sabud in Loreto town.

President Marcos, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Department of National Defense (DND) extended their condolences to the families of the deceased.

The PAF honored the airmen, stating their heroism, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to duty will continue to inspire future generations.

In line with safety protocols, the PAF has grounded all its Super Huey helicopters pending an investigation into the incident.
