3 suspected NPA rebels killed in Leyte clash

Three suspected New People's Army (NPA) members were killed in a clash with government troops in Jaro, Leyte, on Monday morning.

The encounter began after residents of Barangay Pange reported the presence of armed individuals to authorities.

Soldiers from the 93rd Infantry Battalion responded to the tip, leading to a firefight that resulted in the deaths of three rebels and the seizure of two firearms.

While six NPA members were initially present, three managed to escape during the exchange of gunfire.

The military is currently conducting clearing and pursuit operations in the area.

The slain rebels are believed to be members of the Island Committee of Levox under the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC).

The bodies have been brought to a funeral home for identification and claiming by their families, with initial information suggesting they were from Alangalang, Jaro, and Hindang towns in Leyte.
