Parañaque extends curfew amid cases of South Africa variant
Parañaque City has detected three cases of the South African variant of COVID-19 in Barangays Baclaran, Sun Valley, and Don Bosco.
All three cases are returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), with two being seafarers and one an OFW from Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The identified cases are currently undergoing quarantine.
In response, Parañaque City has extended its curfew hours from 12 midnight to 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
A composite team of police and barangay officers has also been formed in each barangay to ensure compliance with health protocols.
Authorities have initiated contact tracing and testing for their close contacts, and restrictions have been intensified on roads leading to barangays with reported cases.
