Three Luzon cities to reach danger level heat index anew

Three areas in Luzon, specifically Laoag City in Ilocos Norte, Dagupan City in Pangasinan, and Aparri in Cagayan, are predicted to experience a heat index reaching the "danger" level of 45 degrees Celsius on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

These same three areas also recorded a heat index of 45 degrees Celsius on Friday.

The "danger level" for heat index ranges from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius, where heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is possible with prolonged exposure.

Tuguegarao City and Cubi Point in Subic Bay are forecast to have a heat index of 44 degrees Celsius.

Thirteen other areas are expected to experience a heat index of 42 or 43 degrees Celsius, including locations in La Union, Cagayan, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Zambales, Tarlac, Occidental Mindoro, and Masbate.

In Metro Manila, NAIA in Pasay City and Science Garden in Quezon City are anticipated to record a heat index of 40 degrees Celsius.

The Department of Health advised the public to dress comfortably, stay hydrated, and seek cool spaces to avoid heat-related illnesses.
