3 arrested in Negros Occidental for alleged terror financing

Three individuals, Federico Salvilla, Perla Pavillar, and Darryl Albañez, were arrested in Negros Occidental for allegedly financing terrorism through financial transactions with the New People's Army (NPA).

The suspects, who are members of the Paghida-et sa Kauswagan Development Group (PDG), were among five people charged in December for allegedly violating the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012.

A preliminary investigation by the Department of Justice found that the NGO allegedly had financial dealings with the NPA, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky stated that terrorism financing is a key strategy used by the CPP-NPA to attempt to overthrow the government.

Maj. Gen. Marion Sison, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, described the arrest as a crucial step in curbing the flow of funds and resources to the CPP-NPA-NDF.
