PNP officers plead not guilty over 2022 shabu haul

Several police officers pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the seizure of 990 kilograms of suspected shabu in Manila in 2022.

The accused officers entered their pleas before Branch 175 of the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Police Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr. did not enter a plea due to a pending motion to quash, leading the court to enter a not guilty plea on his behalf.

The RTC also heard motions regarding the transfer of the accused officers, including a request from Patrolman James Osalvo for transfer to the PNP General Hospital due to medical reasons.

The pre-trial for the case has been scheduled for February 14.

The charges, filed by a panel of prosecutors, include violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and were filed against the officers, including two ranking police generals.
