2,547 OFWs return to Caraga Region

A total of 2,547 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have returned to the Caraga Region as of August 4, facilitated by chartered and sweeper flights organized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Caraga (OWWA-13).

Philippine Airlines conducted a series of flights in July and August from Manila to Butuan City, Laguindingan International Airport (Cagayan de Oro City), and F. Bangoy International Airport (Davao City) for the returning OFWs.

Strict health protocols were implemented during boarding and upon arrival at the airports to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The repatriated OFWs were distributed across various provinces in Caraga.

The remains of two OFWs were also repatriated and handed over to their families in Agusan del Norte and Surigao del Norte.

The repatriation of human remains followed protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and existing health regulations.
