240 foreign passengers fly to Manila from MCIA

Around 240 foreign passengers stranded at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) were successfully flown to Manila on Thursday through recovery flights.

These flights were a joint effort by Philippine Airlines (PAL), the Department of Tourism-Region 7 (DOT-7), and the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

The stranded passengers were among over 600 foreigners affected by the travel restrictions and domestic flight cancellations in Cebu due to the COVID-19 situation.

Airport officials, passenger service agents, and various stakeholders provided assistance, including hotel bookings and food packs, to the stranded individuals.

Foreign embassies also extended support and provided food packs to their stranded nationals.

The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) expressed gratitude to PAL, DOT-7, PAF, and other airport employees and stakeholders for their relentless efforts in assisting the foreign passengers.
