24 NPA, extremist members surrender in Central Mindanao

A total of 24 members from the New People's Army (NPA) and violent religious extremist groups surrendered to the government in Central Mindanao.

Sixteen individuals, comprising NPAs and members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and Dawlah Islamiya, surrendered in South Cotabato.

This surrender was facilitated by the Army's 38th Infantry Battalion, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., and Police Regional Office-12 Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Ardiente.

The BIFF and Dawlah Islamiya are known extremist groups responsible for bombings since 2014 and promote hatred against non-Muslims, a stance rejected by Islamic scholars.

The surrender rites took place at the South Cotabato provincial capitol in Koronadal City.
