23K OFWs stranded in Saudi: POLO
A total of 23,000 displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Saudi Arabia are seeking repatriation due to various reasons including company closures, no work no pay situations, and undocumented status.
Of this number, around 5,000 OFWs have secured their final exit visas.
The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Riyadh is currently assisting these OFWs remotely as 16 of their personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
Despite working from home, POLO continues to provide 24/7 assistance, including consultations and counseling for distressed OFWs.
The POLO temporarily suspended its physical operations on June 14 for safety and disinfection purposes.
