224 areas in NCR under granular lockdown

A total of 224 areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) were under granular lockdown as of Thursday, according to data from the Philippine National Police (PNP).

These lockdown areas are spread across 123 barangays in Metro Manila, encompassing 125 houses, 39 residential buildings, 15 subdivisions or villages, 12 residential building floors, and 11 streets.

The PNP has deployed 573 personnel and 663 force multipliers to enforce security and health standards in these critical zones.

Local government units have the authority to implement and lift granular lockdowns based on the incidence of COVID-19 cases.

The Metro Manila Council has stated that a single COVID-19 case can lead to a lockdown of a house or condominium floor, while two cases may warrant a street lockdown.

The pilot implementation of the Alert Levels System in Metro Manila has been extended until October 15, 2021.
