21 Filipino seafarers repatriated from Ukraine

Twenty-one Filipino seafarers from the MV S-Breeze were safely transported from Chornomorsk, Ukraine, to Chisinau, Moldova, between February 27 and March 1.

The crew had been in drydock at the Ilyichevsk Ship Yard in the Port of Odessa, Ukraine, since January 27 for repairs.

Despite having enough provisions, they requested repatriation due to the escalating conflict in Ukraine.

Initially, only eight seafarers opted for evacuation, but the remaining 13 later joined, and the extraction was completed on March 1.

The seafarers arrived in Moldova with assistance from the Philippine Honorary Consul in Moldova and the Philippine Embassy in Budapest.

They are currently in Chisinau, and arrangements are being made for their repatriation to Manila.
