2 Malaysians arrested in Bacolod for alleged human trafficking, love scam

Two Malaysian nationals were arrested in Bacolod City for alleged human trafficking and love scam operations.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod served a search warrant on March 27, 2025, on houses rented by the Malaysians in Barangays Singcang-Airport and Handumanan.

Authorities received complaints from agents who were not paid their salaries, leading to the investigation.

The suspects allegedly recruited women-models with promises of high salaries, using their pictures in love scam operations targeting foreign clients on dating sites.

Other recruits, referred to as 'agents,' collected money from foreign clients seeking intimate partners.

Ten models and agents were rescued during the operation.

Confiscated items include laptops and cameras believed to be used in the operation.

Both arrested Malaysians had expired visas and one had been in Bacolod for over a year.
