Two dead in separate firecracker incidents in Cebu

Two persons died in separate firecracker-related incidents in Asturias and Talisay City, Cebu, during the New Year celebration.

In Asturias, a 23-year-old vlogger named Cyril John Amarillo Remis died after a firecracker exploded in his face while he was checking unexploded fireworks.

In Talisay City, a 10-year-old boy died after striking a 'Goodbye Philippines' firecracker with a stone while collecting unexploded fireworks with friends.

The Central Visayas Police Regional Office recorded a total of 14 firecracker-related injuries and two stray bullet incidents.

Authorities are investigating the firecracker incidents and the stray bullets to determine their origins.

Despite these incidents, the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas described the New Year celebration as generally peaceful.
