19 million Filipinos eligible for booster shots as interval cut

An estimated 19 million Filipinos are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine booster shots following the reduction of the interval to three months, according to the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC).

The Department of Health announced that booster shots can be administered three months after completing the primary dose series for most vaccine brands, and at least two months after receiving the Janssen vaccine.

NVOC's Dr. Kezia Lorraine Rosario stated that the shortened interval is expected to significantly increase the number of individuals due for their booster doses.

Rosario also assured the public that there are sufficient vaccine supplies, with approximately 192 million doses available, which is enough to cover the booster vaccination drive.

While individuals can still choose their preferred vaccine brand for their booster shot, she encouraged them to accept whichever vaccine is available at vaccination sites to ensure timely protection.
