DOH: 1,694 healthcare workers infected with coronavirus
The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that 1,694 healthcare workers in the Philippines have contracted COVID-19.
This means about one in every five confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country was a healthcare worker.
Of the infected healthcare workers, 33 have died from the disease, including 24 doctors and seven nurses.
The reported cases include 638 nurses, 566 doctors, and 237 other healthcare professionals.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that 256 of the confirmed cases have already recovered.
The DOH also reported that they continue to distribute personal protective equipment to medical facilities across the country.
