15 remote schools get internet connection through digital bayanihan

Education Secretary Sonny Angara announced that fifteen remote schools nationwide have been connected through the government's digital bayanihan program.

Datu Saldong Domino Elementary School in Agusan del Norte was the first last-mile school to be energized with solar panels from the National Electrification Administration (NEA).

NEA also provided a Starlink unit, tablets, and Smart TVs, alongside other school materials from FDC Misamis Power Corporation.

Secretary Angara emphasized the collaborative effort between government agencies, private partners, and local communities in improving education.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) aims to provide internet connectivity to all public schools by the end of 2025 through various programs.

This initiative aligns with DepEd's digitalization goals and President Bongbong Marcos' directive to support remote areas.

Following this pilot, 290 other schools are slated to receive similar energization and connectivity support, with the budget from DepEd and administration by NEA.
