8 cops nabbed for rape, robbery
Fourteen police officers from the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Special Operations Unit (SOU) 4A in Calabarzon are accused of rape and robbery involving a Grade 9 student in Bacoor City.
Eight of the accused officers, including a lieutenant, a master sergeant, three corporals, and three patrolmen, have been arrested.
The suspects allegedly took the victim's cellphone after the abuse.
The arrests were made by elements from the Bacoor police station, police regional intelligence division, and regional mobile force battalion inside the PDEG-4A office at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba City, Laguna.
Authorities are still searching for six other officers who reportedly participated in the crime.
The PDEG director has relieved the suspects from their posts and initiated administrative and criminal complaints.
Acting PNP Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized the organization's zero-tolerance policy for misconduct.
