1,252 Davao health workers contract COVID-19

A total of 1,252 health workers in Davao Region have been infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of December 4, 2020.

To prevent further spread of the disease, the infected health workers have been accommodated in hotels.

Compensation benefits have been provided to the families of frontliners who died due to COVID-19, and ongoing compensation is being given to mild to moderate cases.

DOH Region 11 director Annabelle Yumang noted that private hospitals in Davao City have increased their allocated beds for COVID-19 patients to 196.

The region is considered an epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside the National Capital Region and Calabarzon, according to UP OCTA Research.
