1.15 million AZ vaccine doses arrive in PH

Over 1.15 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines arrived in the Philippines on July 16, 2021.

These vaccines were acquired through a tripartite agreement involving the national government, the private sector led by the Go Negosyo Foundation, and AstraZeneca.

The shipment, consisting of 1,150,800 doses, landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 9:35 a.m. on a China Airlines flight.

The arrival was personally observed by key officials including vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion.

This procurement was part of the 'A Dose of Hope' initiative spearheaded by Joey Concepcion.

The jabs were part of the 5.5 million AstraZeneca doses procured by the private sector to inoculate its workers.

The first batch of 3.3 million doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines donated by the US government was also scheduled to arrive in the country on the same day.
