100 Central Visayas cops deployed to Bicol for Rolly response

Around 100 police officers from Central Visayas are being deployed to Bicol to assist in post-typhoon response efforts following Super Typhoon Rolly.

The deployment was ordered by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Camilo Cascolan and announced by Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro.

The contingent will aid in clearing operations, rehabilitation, and relief distribution to affected residents, focusing on areas like Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, and Albay.

Coordination is underway with the Armed Forces of the Philippines for equipment to address areas affected by lahar flow and mudslides, particularly in towns near Mayon Volcano.

PRO-7 is also coordinating with the Philippine Coast Guard for safe travel clearance to Bicol and has begun accepting donations for typhoon victims.

The deployment of these officers will not affect the implementation of quarantine measures in the Central Visayas region.
