10 Army soldiers awarded for Myanmar humanitarian mission

Ten Philippine Army soldiers were awarded the Meritorious Achievement Medal for their humanitarian mission in earthquake-hit Myanmar last month.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido presented the awards at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The awardees, all from the 525th Combat Engineer Battalion and part of the Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent (PIAHC), served as the Army's urban search and rescue team.

The soldiers visited disaster sites like the collapsed Jade City Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

They collaborated with international teams from Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Singapore to search for trapped victims.

Their efforts were conducted under hazardous conditions, with limited communication equipment and extreme heat.

Lt. Gen. Galido also presented CGPA's Personal Coins to commemorate the team's courage and commitment.
