Zubiri takes three-week break from politics

Former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri announced on Wednesday that he will take a three-week break from politics following his resignation.

Zubiri cited the need for an emotional and mental break due to 'nasty backstabbing' in Philippine politics and emphasized that this vacation is at no cost to the government, stating it's personal expense for some quality time with his family.

With support from 15 senators, Francis Escudero successfully took over the Senate presidency from Zubiri earlier this month.

After their break, Solid 7, a group of seven senators including Zubiri, plans to regroup and determine their direction under the new leadership.

Zubiri expressed happiness and relaxation following his resignation, looking forward to passing legislation beneficial for the people in the coming year.
