Zubiri starts random drug testing for himself and staff

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Miguel Zubiri announced that he and his staff would undergo 'random' drug testing starting today following a marijuana smoking scandal involving Nadia Montenegro, a former actor and staff member of Senator Robinhood Padilla.

Zubiri emphasized that the drug tests would include himself and all his staff members, urging other senators to follow suit.

He stated his willingness to undergo hair follicle tests for greater accuracy and transparency, indicating that refusing to take the test could raise suspicions.

On Monday, Zubiri and his 35 staff underwent a voluntary drug test coordinated with the Senate medical bureau, an accredited laboratory for drug tests.

The senator encouraged fellow senators and their staff to also undertake similar measures to ensure a 'drug-free Senate'.
