Zamboanga faces oxygen shortage, calls for strict quarantine

Zamboanga City is facing a shortage of medical oxygen due to an increase in COVID-19 infections.

Attorney Kenneth Beldua, spokesperson for Zamboanga City Task Force, reported that some patients are being denied hospital admission because of low oxygen supply.

Nurse Myleonor Alcoriza from the state-run Zamboanga City Medical Center described seeing desperate patients asking if they will survive and return home.

Alcoriza noted that health workers are also getting exhausted and going on sick leave due to the overwhelming situation.

Medical groups in Zamboanga have called for stricter quarantine measures as cases surge, potentially marking a third wave of infections.
