Zambo Norte PHO insists on repeat swab tests for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients

Zamboanga del Norte's Provincial Health Officer Esmeralda Nadela insists on repeat swab tests for COVID-19 patients declared asymptomatic after the 14-day quarantine.

As of August 18, the province has only two active cases with 30 recoveries and no deaths out of a total of 32 cases.

Dr. Joshua Brillantes from the DOH's 9th Regional Office stated that patients are considered recovered if they complete the 14-day quarantine without symptoms, but Nadela emphasizes retesting for peace of mind.

Local health officials agree with Nadela’s stance on retesting to ensure accuracy and public safety given the novelty of the virus.
