Yoon to visit PH from Oct 6-7 for state meet with Marcos

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will visit the Philippines from October 6 to 7 at the invitation of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., marking the first state visit by a South Korean president since 2011.

President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will welcome their South Korean counterparts on October 7, with discussions aimed at boosting already robust relations between the two nations.

During the bilateral meeting at Malacañang Palace, both leaders plan to address cooperation in political, security, economic development, people-to-people ties, labor matters, and other areas of mutual interest.

Yoon's visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and the Philippines and precedes his participation in the ASEAN-Korea Summit in Laos.

South Korea is a valued trade and investment partner of the Philippines, ranking fourth in bilateral trade at USD15.45 billion and sixth in total approved investments at USD90.62 million in 2022.
