Sara endorses Imee for senator, both wear black to symbolize mourning

Vice President Sara Duterte endorsed Senator Imee Marcos for reelection on Monday, weeks after Imee withdrew from the administration's senatorial ticket due to leading a Senate investigation into the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a 30-second political advertisement released on her Facebook page, Duterte and Marcos discussed the government's alleged neglect of basic national issues such as hunger and crime.

Senator Marcos denied Tuesday that the endorsement was a 'reward' for initiating the probe into her father's arrest, saying it came from former President Rodrigo Duterte himself and resulted from their friendship.

Both women wore black attire during the video shoot over the weekend to symbolize mourning for the country's struggles, with Marcos stating that the concept of 'itim' as a symbol of mourning came from Vice President Duterte.

Marcos admitted in a press briefing Tuesday that she may have 'harmed' her friend when she convinced her to run as vice president along with her brother, expressing regret over the situation.
